I'm living the dream in my actual job hahaha...
Starting in my previous job (2021) I remember dreaming on having a closer interaction with the final user, but at the time I didn't have a clear picture of what that was like...
Now working in manufacturing I really know what it means. Having the person with a rushing voice, not knowing what the problem is and reaching for a fast, secure and not breaking anything patch, now I really know what it is. Knowadays I have that type of requests from my user/cowokers, and I really appreciate to live this time and place when I already some of the quirks of applied tech on running systems.
I think is the part of my learning that most of my team at dralebrijes and Wrethink tried to teach me, to have soft skills. The definition of soft skills I'm more agree on is:
Abilities transferable across roles and industries.
Some definitions include things like "emotional", "intelligence", etc but I don't agree on those because sometimes the ability to have better problem solving skill on the matter of people are not often tight to an emotional stable/intelligent persona.
I would rather reach that knowledge focused on feeling the people directly first and the I could think on scenarios where the people are being stressed because some button is not doing the whole automation they excepted.
